SUV and car collide at 58th and Quaker, killing Mark Edens
LUBBOCK, TX – One person died Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at a busy intersection in southwest Lubbock, reports Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
The accident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of 58th Street and Quaker Avenue, which is just east of Dupree Park and north of Leroy Elmore Park.
Police say that a northbound SUV collided with a westbound sedan in the intersection, causing the SUV to overturn.
The force of the collision ejected the unrestrained driver of the SUV, who died after transport to an area hospital. Authorities identified the victim as 55-year-old Mark Edens.
Neither the passenger in the SUV nor the driver of the sedan required hospitalization.
Officials haven’t yet determined which driver might have been at fault in the crash.
A full investigation is underway.
