SUV and box truck collide on Rusk St, killing Zara Holmes

JACKSONVILLE, TX – An 18-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries Monday in major collision involving a box truck on the east side of Jacksonville, reports KETK.

The accident occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. on East Rusk Street between Newbern Street and Avalon Street, which is just north of Buckner Park and south of Ritual Wonderland.

Police say that the driver of an SUV failed to yield right of way while turning onto Rusk from a private drive, causing the vehicle to collide with an eastbound box truck.

Authorities pronounced the driver of the SUV deceased at the scene, identifying her as Zara Jazmine Homes.

No other injuries have been reported in connection to the accident.

The crash likely caused delays along East Rusk Street Monday morning while emergency teams worked at the scene.
