Houston PD investigates fatal bike crash along Quitman St
HOUSTON, TX – Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run collision that killed a 31-year-old bicyclist in northeast Houston early Friday, reports Fox 26 Houston.
The accident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on Quitman Street near Maury Street, which is west of I-69 and east of Northside High School.
Police say that an unknown vehicle struck a westbound cyclist, killing him at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the bicyclist to the public.
The driver involved in the collision did not stop to render aid or to speak with police. At this time, officials do not have a description of the suspect or their vehicle.
Drivers likely faced delays along Quitman Street in the area of the crash while emergency crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
