Shawn Cernik, 1 other killed in Amarillo motorcycle accident
AMARILLO, TX – Police are investigating a double-fatality collision involving two motorcycles that happened Saturday night on the east side of Amarillo.
According to News Channel 10, the crash occurred around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Southeast 3rd Avenue and South Lakeside Drive, which is just southwest of Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.
Police say that two motorcyclists were likely speeding when one of them lost control on the eastbound side of Southeast 3rd Avenue, causing a collision with ejection.
Neither motorcyclist was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the accident, and both sustained fatal injuries.
Authorities identified the victims as Shawn Michael Cernik, 50, and Tion James Williams, 47.
A full investigation is underway.
