Van and semi collide at Olive and Slaton, killing Jenna Garcia

LUBBOCK, TX – A 31-year-old woman died Monday in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi on the southeast side of Lubbock, reports everythingLubbock.

The accident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Olive Avenue and US-84, or Slaton Road. This is just southwest of Buffalo Springs Lake and Ransom Canyon.

Police say that a southbound minivan collided with an eastbound 18-wheeler in the intersection. It’s unclear which vehicle had the right of way at the time of the crash.

The driver of the minivan, identified as Jenna Garcia, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Medics transported the truck driver to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

The collision likely caused delays in the area of Olive and Slaton while emergency crews worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
