Autumn Ales IDed as child killed in Brown Co. ejection crash
BROWN CO., TX – An 8-year-old girl died early Friday in a single-vehicle collision in west-central Brown County, reports People.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to a fatal accident along FM 1849 between Bangs and Brownwood and around 76 miles southeast of Abilene.
Police say that the 39-year-old driver of a northbound 2008 Hyundai Accent lost control of the vehicle while swerving to avoid an animal in the roadway. The sedan overturned after leaving FM 1849. The impact of the crash threw an unrestrained child passenger from the vehicle, killing her at the scene.
Authorities identified the young victim as Brownwood ISD second grader Autumn Ales.
Ales’ father, who was driving the car, and her 9-year-old sibling survived the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
