SUV, pickup collide near Big Spring, claiming Cheri Haechten
HOWARD CO., TX – A two-vehicle collision in south-central Howard County killed a driver and injured her teen passenger on Monday morning, reports First Alert 7.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to a major crash in the area of US-87 and Brian Road, just southeast of Big Spring and about 40 miles northeast of Midland.
Police say that a Mitsubishi Outlander and a Ford F-250 collided when the driver of the SUV failed to heed right of way while turning and entered the path of the pickup truck on US-87.
The driver of the Outlander succumbed to her injuries after transport to an area hospital. Authorities identified the victim as Cheri Lynette Haechten, 36.
A teen passenger in the Outlander went to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the accident.
A full investigation is underway.
