Pickup, SUV collide on US-385 near Vega, killing Kelly Wagner

OLDHAM CO., TX – A 57-year-old woman died Thursday in a two-vehicle collision along the highway in southeast Oldham County, reports News Channel 10.

The accident occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. on US-385 near County Road 26. This is just south of Vega and approximately 35 miles west of Amarillo.

Police say that a northbound Chevrolet Silverado struck a Ford Explorer when the driver of the latter vehicle failed to yield right of way when re-entering the highway from a private drive.

The force of the collision threw the unrestrained driver of the SUV from her vehicle. She died after being airlifted to a local hospital. Authorities identified the victim as Kelly Wagner of Vega.

Medics transported the 27-year-old driver of the Chevy and her three children to the hospital via ground ambulance. They are all expected to survive their injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
