Jordan Wampler claimed in solo crash on US-287 near Washburn

AMSTRONG CO., TX – An Indiana man sustained fatal injuries Monday in a single-vehicle collision along the highway in northwest Armstrong County, reports News Channel 10.

The accident occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m., just east of Washburn and about 20 miles east of Amarillo on US-287.

Police say that for unknown reasons, 28-year-old Jordan Wampler lost control of his eastbound vehicle, causing it to skid, leave the roadway, and overturn. The impact of the crash ejected Wampler, who was not wearing a seatbelt.

Wampler succumbed to his injuries after transport to an area hospital.

There were no passengers in the car at the time of the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
