Edwin Arce claimed in Killeen motorcycle crash on Pershing Dr
KILLEEN, TX – A motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries Monday in a two-vehicle collision at a busy intersection in west-central Bell County, reports KWTX 10.
The accident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. at Old FM 440 Road and Pershing Drive in Killeen, which is about 63 miles southwest of Waco.
Police say that a 50-year-old motorcyclist lost control of his westbound bike and crashed while trying to stop for the stop sign at the intersection. The motorcycle fell in the intersection, ejecting the operator, who was then struck by a northbound sedan.
The motorcyclist, who has since been identified as Edwin Cruzado Arce, died after transport to an area hospital.
It’s unclear if anyone in the car sustained injuries.
Authorities say that Arce was not wearing a safety helmet and that he appeared to be speeding when the accident happened.
No charges have been filed so far.
A full investigation is underway.
