Pickup and semi collide on FM 51 near Decatur, killing Rex Maxwell

WISE CO., TX – An elderly man died, and another man went to the hospital Monday in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi in eastern Wise County.

According to The Messenger, the accident happened just after 3 p.m. on FM 51 at Charlies Road in the northeastern outskirts of Decatur, about 40 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a southbound 18-wheeler collided with a Ford F-150 when the driver of the pickup truck turned onto FM 51 without yielding right of way. Authorities characterized the accident as a T-bone collision.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 84-year-old Rex Maxwell, died after transport to an area hospital,.

Medics transported the truck driver to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
