Julio Ramirez killed in wrong-way crash at TX-249, Jones Rd
HOUSTON, TX – A 25-year-old man died, and another driver sustained major injuries Saturday in a wrong-way crash in far northwest Houston, reports Fox 26.
Around 1:40 a.m., emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision along the Tomball Parkway, or TX-249, near Jones Road in the Lakewood Grove area.
The investigation indicates that a northbound vehicle entered the southbound side of the highway and crashed head-on into a southbound car. The second vehicle then ignited.
The wrong-way driver, identified as Julio Alberto Calero Ramirez, died at the scene.
Medics transported the driver of the car that caught fire to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
