Michael McRae charged in DUI crash that injured Dallas child

DALLAS, TX – Police have charged the man responsible for causing a two-vehicle crash that seriously injured a 7-year-old boy on New Year’s Day in Dallas.

According to Fox 4 News, Michael Lavarius McRae was allegedly intoxicated when his Honda Civic entered the wrong side of the Central Expressway, or US-75, and collided head-on into another vehicle. The second vehicle overturned, ejecting a 7-year-old passenger.

The 7-year-old, who has since been identified as Saeed, ultimately lost his leg due to injuries sustained in the accident.

It’s unclear if the other occupants of the vehicle, Saeed’s parents and sister, were hurt in the crash.

Authorities arrested McRae on multiple charges, including DUI, assault, and resisting arrest.

The investigation is ongoing.
