River Burks, 2 kids killed in solo crash on TX-323 near Overton

RUSK CO., TX – An adult and two children sustained fatal injuries Saturday in a single-vehicle collision along the highway in northwest Rusk County.

According to CBS 19, the crash occurred on TX-323 near Old London and Overton and about two hours southeast of Dallas.

The initial investigation indicates that a 21-year-old driver lost control of his northbound vehicle while making an illegal pass on TX-323. The vehicle travelled off of the highway and crashed into a tree.

Authorities declared a toddler and the driver, identified as River Burks, deceased at the scene.

A 6-year-old passenger died the following day in a hospital in Louisiana.

The investigation is ongoing.
