Train fatally strikes Jose Aguilar near E Main, NE 4th in Fabens
FABENS, TX – An elderly man died Saturday afternoon when a train struck him in south-central El Paso County, reports KFOX 14.
Shortly after 12:30 p.m., emergency teams responded to a fatal pedestrian crash at the railroad tracks near Main Street and 4th Street Northeast in the city of Fabens, about 32 miles southeast of El Paso.
An eastbound train, police say, struck 76-year-old Jose Andres Aguilar as he walked onto the tracks.
Aguilar succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
It’s not yet clear why the victim was walking along the railroad tracks at the time of the collision.
A full investigation is underway.
