Wrong-way collision near Muleshoe claims Jose Cal Cucul
PARMER CO., TX – A 45-year-old man died last Friday in a two-vehicle crash caused by an alleged drunk driver in southeast Parmer County.
According to abc 7 Amarillo, the accident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on TX-214 between Friona and Muleshoe and around 75 miles southwest of Amarillo.
Police say that the driver of a southbound Honda Civic was intoxicated when he entered the northbound side of the highway and collided with a northbound Nissan Maxima.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as Jose Cal Cucul of Muleshoe, died at the scene.
Medics transported the wrong-way driver, since identified as Saul Rodriguez-Cruz of Friona, to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
Charges against Rodriguez-Cruz are pending, as the investigation continues.
