Woman, 22, charged after crash that killed SMU graduates Madison Duren and Julian Harris

DALLAS, TX – A 22-year-old woman was charged in connection with a crash that killed two Southern Methodist University graduates earlier this month.

This is an update in response to our previous reporting. WFAA said it was 22-year-old  Aldrea Rogers, who was arrested and charged with manslaughter, a second-degree felony, for her role in a collision that killed 22-year-old Madison “Madi” Duren, and 23-year-old Julian Harris, a couple who met and studied theater together at SMU.

The Back Story

The crash happened before 8 p.m. on the 9200th block of Garland Road on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Harris, who was driving a Prius, and Duren, a Prius passenger, were leaving Duren’s apartment when they were T-boned by a Hyundai Elantra. A third vehicle was involved, but fled the scene.

The impact of the crash led Harris to succumb to his injuries at the scene, while Duren, later died at a hospital.

The three Hyundai occupants, a woman and children ages 1 to 3, were injured.

Police have not described the third vehicle that reportedly fled the scene, or Rogers’ role in the deadly collision.

We will continue to monitor for incoming developments and issue updates once we know more.
