Truck driver killed in solo crash at TX-121 and I-635 in Grapevine

GRAPEVINE, TX – A man died Saturday after losing control of an 18-wheeler along a highway ramp in northeast Tarrant County.

According to WFAA News 8, the accident occurred around 5:20 a.m. on the ramp from northbound TX-121 to eastbound I-635 in Grapevine. This is just north of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

Police say the semi crashed into a guardrail along the ramp and overturned after one of the tires went flat, and the driver struggled to maintain control on a curve in the roadway.

Authorities declared the 62-year-old truck driver from Plano deceased at the scene of the accident. They identified him as Luiz Carlos Camargo.

Police suspect that speed may have been a factor in the crash.

Officials closed the exit until around noon while crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
