Motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash at FM 51 and Hwy 99

SPRINGTOWN, TX – A 41-year-old man died Tuesday in a multi-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle, a semi, and a passenger vehicle in Springtown.

According to Fox 4 KDFW, the crash occurred on FM 51, or South Main Street, just south of Highway 99. This is on the southside of the city.

Police say the victim’s northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle struck the rear edge of a truck pulling a shed. This initial impact caused the motorcyclist to veer into the southbound lane of traffic, where he collided with a southbound car. Officials say the truck in front of Brandes had stopped to allow an 18-wheeler ahead of it to turn left on Highway 99.

The motorcyclist, identified as 41-year-old Joshua Brandes, died at the scene of the accident after medics attempted life-saving measures. Brandes was an off-duty paramedic and firefighter for the Irving Fire Department.

No other injuries have been reported in connection to the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
