Rylee Schobel, 29, and son killed in wrong-way crash
COLORADO CO., TX – A 29-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son sustained fatal injuries last Tuesday in a wrong-way crash in north-central Colorado County.
According to The Colorado County Citizen, the accident happened shortly after 11:45 a.m. along FM 109. This road runs north to south between Columbus and Frelsburg.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a northbound 2008 Ford F-250 pickup entered the southbound side of FM 109 and collided head-on with a southbound 2001 Chevrolet Suburban SUV carrying a mom and her two children.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Rylee Schobel, died at the scene of the wreck.
Medics transported her two children, 10-year-old Jude 7-year-old Lorelei, to an area hospital with critical injuries. Jude succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. Lorelei remains in the hospital.
The wrong-way driver, identified as 42-year-old Bobby John Murphy, also went to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is unclear at this time.
