Off-duty officer, Marcelo Garcia, killed in Sugar Land crash

SUGAR LAND, TX – A two-vehicle collision along the highway in the southwest suburbs of Houston claimed the life of a Fort Bend County deputy Sunday, reports abc 13 News.

The accident happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of US-90 and US-59, or I-69. This is on the northeast side of Sugar Land, about 20 miles southwest of Houston.

Police say that Fort Bend County deputy Marcelo Garcia was off-duty when his motorcycle collided with the rear of a passenger vehicle.

Medics transported Garcia to an area hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the wreck.

The occupants of the passenger vehicle were not injured in the collision.

A full investigation is underway.
