Officer William Walker hurt in crash with DWI driver in Houston

HOUSTON, TX – Authorities arrested a driver early Friday after his vehicle struck a police cruiser along the interstate in Houston, reports abc 13 News.

The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. along West Loop South, or I-610. Officials haven’t yet provided a cross street or mile marker for the collision.

According to the preliminary investigation, a Ford van hit a Bellaire police unit along the shoulder of West Loop South. Officer William Walker had stopped along the side of the interstate to assist another driver when the wreck occurred.

Officer Walker sustained a non-critical head injury in the collision. It’s unclear if Walker required hospitalization for his injuries.

Authorities arrested the driver of the Ford on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

A full investigation is underway.
