Jose Garcia Ledesma, 9, killed in auto-pedestrian accident

DALLAS, TX – Emergency crews responded to a fatal auto-pedestrian crash involving children in central Dallas on Thursday afternoon, reports WFAA News 8.

The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on South Marsalis Avenue between I-35 and East Jefferson Boulevard, which is just north of the Dallas Zoo and east of Felix Botello Elementary School.

Police say that a pickup truck driven by an elderly man struck three children and a mom in the roadway.

One of the kids, identified as 9-year-old Jose Garcia Ledesma, sustained fatal injuries.

Medics transported two other children, a 9-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, to the hospital with critical injuries. The adult pedestrian also required hospitalization.

Authorities say that speed was not a factor in the crash and that no charges have been filed at this time.

A full investigation is underway.
