Head-on crash along FM 1151 near Amarillo claims Julio Guerra

RANDALL CO, TX – A 74-year-old man sustained fatal injuries over the Father’s Day weekend in a wrong-way crash in northeast Randall County, reports abc 7 News.

The two-vehicle collision occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday on FM 1151 just southeast of Amarillo. Officials have not provided a cross street for the accident, but FM 1151 runs east to west from TX-207 in Claude to South Washington Street in south Amarillo.

It’s not yet clear what caused an unrestrained driver to steer his vehicle into oncoming traffic. Police say that the wrong-way driver, since identified as Julio Guerra, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

The other driver, identified as 25-year-old Ezequiel Villarreal, went to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

Motorists likely experienced delays along FM 1151 Saturday night while emergency crews attended to the victims and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
