T-bone crash at SE 10th and Pierce claims Orelvis Rodriguez

AMARILLO, TX – A 54-year-old man died, and another person sustained injuries Wednesday morning in a T-bone collision in downtown Amarillo, reports abc 7 News.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., emergency teams responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Southeast 10th Avenue and Pierce Street South, which is southwest of Hodgetown Stadium and east of Ellwood Park.

Police say that the driver of a passenger vehicle was likely speeding when he failed to heed the stop sign at the intersection and struck a Dodge Ram.

The driver of the first vehicle, identified as Orelvis Perez Rodriguez, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the pickup truck went to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

The collision likely caused delays in the area of Southeast 10th and Pierce while response teams gathered evidence and worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
