David O’Conner IDed as cyclist in fatal crash on Pershing Dr

EL PASO, TX – A 52-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Sunday when a vehicle struck him along a busy roadway in northeast El Paso, reports KTSM 9.

The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Pershing Drive between Manchester Avenue and Leeds Avenue, which is just west of US-54 and northwest of Coldwell Elementary School.

Police say that a sedan struck David Carmine O’Conner’s bicycle from behind. The impact of the collision ejected O’Conner, killing him at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash did not stop to render aid or to speak with authorities.

Officials are looking for a gray or silver car with front-end damage.
