Malibu, F-350 collide near New Baden, killing James Lohse
ROBERTSON CO., TX – A 51-year-old Plantersville man sustained fatal injuries Monday in a wrong-way collision along the highway in east-central Robertson County, reports Fox 44 News.
Around 1:30 p.m., emergency teams responded to a two-vehicle crash north of Cobb Branch Road on FM 1940. This is just east of Franklin and about 75 miles southeast of Waco.
Police say that the driver of a northbound Chevy Malibu attempted to pass a slower driving by entered the southbound side of FM 1040. The vehicle collided head on with a Ford F-350.
The wrong-way driver, identified as James Lohse, died at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck sustained non-critical injuries; it’s unclear if they required hospitalization.
Officials closed FM 1940 in the area of the crash while crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.
