Michael McCoy, wife IDed as victims in Wharton Co. plane crash
LOUISE, TX – The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a private plane crash that killed a man and his wife Saturday in Wharton County.
FAA officials received word of the accident around 8 p.m. in the area of Ward Street and FM 382 in the city of Louise, which is about 84 miles southwest of Houston.
Investigators haven’t yet determined the cause of the crash. They say that a North American T-6 appeared to experience mechanical difficulties mid-flight. The plane crashed during an attempted emergency landing.
Two people aboard the plane, identified as 62-year-old Retired Lt. Col. Michael McCoy and his wife, 62-year-old Heather McCoy, died at the scene of the crash.
It’s unclear if the plane was carrying any other passengers when the accident occurred. No other injuries have been reported.
