Juan Garcia critically hurt in pedestrian crash on Riverbank Dr
LAREDO, TX – A 55-year-old man sustained serious injuries Thursday when a vehicle struck him at a north Laredo intersection, reports KGNS News.
Around 6 a.m., emergency teams responded to an auto-pedestrian accident along Riverbank Drive between Logistic Drive and Mines Road. This is south of Robert Muller Park.
Police say that victim, identified as Juan Manuel Garcia, was struck by a southbound Mazda 6 when he attempted to cross Riverbank Drive outside of a designated crosswalk. Due to the early hour of the accident, visibility for the driver was low.
Medics airlifted Garcia to a San Antonio hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The 18-year-old driver involved in the crash stopped to render aid and to speak with police.
No charges have been filed at this time.
A full investigation is underway.
