Head-on crash along SE Dr in Lubbock injures David Chavera

LUBBOCK, TX – Two adults were badly hurt Tuesday morning in a wrong-way collision along a major roadway in southeast Lubbock County, reports KCBD 11.

The crash happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Southeast Drive between Loop 289 and the Slaton Highway in southeast Lubbock. This is just west of Buffalo Springs Lake and Ransom Canyon.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a northbound 18-wheeler entered the southbound side of Southeast Drive and collided head on with a southbound pickup truck.

Medics transported both drivers to area hospitals with serious injuries. Authorities have since identified the driver of the semi as David Chavera. The driver of the pickup truck has been identified as Isabel Torres.

The investigation is ongoing.
