Dr. George Fidone charged in fatal 2-car crash in SW Lufkin

LUFKIN, TX – Police arrested a man in connection to a two-vehicle accident that killed one person and injured another in Lufkin earlier this month.

According to CBS 19, the crash occurred around 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 17th, near the entrance to Texas Bible College on College Drive.

Authorities say that 65-year-old Dr. George Fidone was intoxicated and distracted by his cell phone when he lost control of his Mercedes, veered onto the wrong side of College Drive, and collided with a Kia.

The accident killed the driver of the Kia, who has since been identified as 26-year-old Demarcus Hadnot. A dog in the vehicle also died.

Medics airlifted a passenger from the Kia, identified as 24-year-old Paige Turner, to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Police charged Dr. Fidone with both intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
