Lakethia Montgomery IDed as victim in Houston DUI crash
HOUSTON, TX – A 42-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries Tuesday in a two-vehicle collision caused by a drunk driver in northwest Houston.
According to AOL, the collision occurred in the morning near Westway Park at the intersection of Clay Road and the Sam Houston Tollway.
Police say that 37-year-old Manuel Neri Mendoza was intoxicated when he ran a red light on the tollway and crashed into an eastbound Mitsubishi Mirage carrying a woman and child.
The driver of the Mirage, identified as 42-year-old Lakethia Montgomery, died at the scene, while her 3-year-old grandson survived without injuries.
Authorities arrested Neri Mendoza, charging him with murder. Records show that Neri Mendoza has a history of at least two prior DWI charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
