Alejandro Escamilla-Morgado killed in 2-car crash near Alton

HIDALGO CO., TX – A 42-year-old man died Sunday in a two-vehicle collision along a major roadway in southwestern Hidalgo County, reports Valley Central.

Around 11:15 p.m., emergency crews responded to a major accident along North Moorefield Road north of West Mile Road, about ten miles west of Edinburg.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a southbound Ford Fusion entered the northbound side of the roadway and collided head-on with a northbound Chevy Blazer.

The wrong-way driver, identified as Alejandro Escamilla-Morgado, died at the scene of the crash.

Medics transported the other driver to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
