Semi, pickup collide on Bushland Rd, killing Cathy Lynn Erickson

AMARILLO, TX – A 71-year-old woman died Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler in southwest Potter County, reports News Channel 10.

Emergency crews responded Tuesday to a major accident at the intersection of Bushland Road and the I-40 frontage road in far-west Amarillo.

Police say that a southbound pickup truck collided with a semi-truck when the latter vehicle initiated a northbound turn from the I-40 frontage road.

It’s not yet clear which vehicle had the right of way at the time of the crash.

Authorities declared the driver of the pickup truck deceased at the scene, identifying her as Cathy Lynn Erickson of Bushland.

Medics airlifted the 69-year-old passenger of the pickup to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 41-year-old driver of the semi also required hospitalization for serious injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
