Luis A. Mendez killed in motorcycle, big rig collision in Arlington

ARLINGTON, TX – A 47-year-old man’s life was claimed in a motorcycle, big rig collision in Arlington last Saturday, July 25.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office told the Fort Worth-Star Telegram that they identified the 47-year-old man as Luis A. Mendez.

Fort Worth police said Mendez, accompanied by a female passenger, was negotiating a curve on the 3900th block of Avenue E East when they collided with a big rig, turning left out of a store parking lot and into Avenue E East.

Mendez’s motorcycle crashed into the side of the truck, and Mendez, who was not wearing a helmet, and his female passenger were ejected from their bike.

Mendez succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while his passenger survived and was left with non-life-threatening injuries and declined to be taken to a hospital.

The truck driver, who was uninjured, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police do not suspect the truck driver will face criminal charges and are actively working to determine contributing factors behind the collision.
