Single-vehicle crash on icy overpass in Arlington kills 1

ARLINGTON, TX – A 45-year-old driver died Monday night after losing control of their vehicle on an icy overpass along the interstate in Arlington, reports Fox 4.

The incident happened Monday night at I-20, or the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway, and the Green Oaks Boulevard overpass.

The investigation thus far indicates that a black 1997 Toyota 4Runner crashed into a guardrail on the overpass before falling down an embankment. The force of the collision threw the driver from the vehicle, and they died after transport to a local hospital.

While the icy roadway was likely a primary cause of the accident, police say the driver was also speeding and not wearing a seatbelt.

Officials have not yet released the identity of the driver.

A full investigation is underway.
