Four Killed in Head-On Crash on South Jackson Road in Edinburg
Edinburg, TX. (August 1, 2023)- 50-year-old Luz Casado, 68-year-old Maria Casado, 2-year-old Elleiana Santoy and 10-year-old Shailey Martinez were killed in a two-vehicle crash on July 24, 2023, in Edinburg, Texas. The accident occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Jackson Road. Police reported that the driver of a northbound black pickup truck veered into the southbound lanes and crashed head-on into a minivan occupied by the victims. Luz was pronounced dead at the scene. Maria, Elleiana and Shailey were transported to DHR Hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the pickup truck remains in critical condition. It is believed that the pickup driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. No further details have been provided at the time. The crash remains under investigation.
