Speeding driver crashes into blocker truck on Loop 12 SB in Irving, dies

IRVING, TX – One person died Sunday after they crashed into a blocker truck, which police had placed at the site of a prior crash on the highway in Irving.

According to DFW Scanner, the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. on the southbound side of Loop 12 near Irving Boulevard, which is just southwest of Trinity View Park and northwest of Irving Golf Club.

At the time of the accident, police were using the blocker truck to protect crews while they investigated and cleared a multi-vehicle crash that had occurred two hours prior.

Authorities say the victim was driving their pickup truck over 100 miles per hour when they collided with the blocking truck and died at the scene. They have not yet released the name of the victim to the public.

There were no other injuries as a result of this later crash.
