Alleged DUI crash on Belt Line in Grand Prairie kills 1

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – A 33-year-old man died Sunday after an alleged DUI collision along Belt Line Road in Grand Prairie, reports Fox 4 KDFW.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection with Lakeview Drive, which is west of Mountain Creek Lake and east of Corn Valley Road.

A preliminary report indicates that 24-year-old Clesiz Leiva was driving southbound in a pickup truck on Belt Line Road when she veered into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with a northbound Jeep SUV.

The driver of the SUV, identified as Carlos Alberto Aria Vera, died at the scene of the accident.

Medics transported one other person from the SUV to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Police arrested Leiva on charges that include intoxication manslaughter and aggravated assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
