Vehicle strikes, kills 38-year-old pedestrian on TX-110 near Ponta

CHEROKEE CO., TX – A 38-year-old man died last Thursday when a vehicle struck him along a highway in east-central Cherokee County, reports Aol.

The incident occurred around 10:04 p.m. along Highway 110 just south of Ponta, which is just under an hour southeast of Tyler.

Police say a northbound 2017 GMC pickup towing a trailer struck and killed the victim as he was walking along the highway. Authorities identified the pedestrian as Mark McGowan of Jacksonville.

At this time, it is unclear if the driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene to render aid and speak with officials.

A full investigation is underway.
