I killed, 1 hurt in vehicle vs. pedestrian crash on I-44 NB at Missile Rd

WICHITA FALLS, TX – A 21-year-old man died Sunday when a vehicle struck him along the interstate on the far north side of Wichita Falls, reports Times Record News.

Emergency teams responded just before 8:30 a.m. to I-44 northbound and Missile Road, which is northwest of Sheppard Air Force Base and south of the High Caliber Gun Range.

Police say the victim was a passenger in a vehicle that stopped along the side of the interstate for unknown reasons. When he exited the vehicle, a second northbound vehicle struck him, causing fatal injuries. At this time, another passenger exited the stopped vehicle to help the first victim. A third vehicle then struck the second pedestrian, who went to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

Authorities identified the deceased victim as Noah Burris of Burkburnett.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Burris did stop to render aid and speak with police. It’s unclear if the driver of the third vehicle remained at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
