Woman, baby killed when SUV and semi collide on FM 1788 at CR 58
MIDLAND CO., TX – A two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler killed one adult and an infant last Wednesday on the western outskirts of Midland, reports NewsWest 9.
The accident happened just before 3:30 p.m. on FM 1788 at County Road 58. This is northwest of Midland International Air and Space Port.
Police say that a northbound 2019 Freightliner collided with a 2018 Toyota Highlander when the driver of the latter vehicle failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign. The driver of the SUV was headed either east or west on West County Road 58 when the crash occurred.
The accident killed a 37-year-old unrestrained passenger and an unrestrained baby at the scene. Authorities identified the adult victim as Doria Hernandez.
Medics transported the truck driver to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
The driver of the SUV did not sustain injuries in the collision.
A full investigation is underway.
