Man killed in SUV vs. pedestrian crash in 6100 block of 19th St

LUBBOCK, TX – A pedestrian died Sunday night when a vehicle struck him along a busy roadway on the west side of Lubbock, reports the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

The incident happened just after 8 p.m. along 19th Street, or TX-114, near Iola Avenue. This is west of Loop 289 in the Northridge area.

Police say the man was attempting to cross 19th Street when an eastbound SUV struck him. Medics pronounced the pedestrian, identified as 38-year-old Curtis Rosemond, deceased at the scene.

It’s not yet clear if the driver involved in the accident stopped to render aid and speak with authorities, nor do we know if drugs or alcohol were a factor for either party.

Motorists likely experienced delays along 19th Street in the area of the crash while emergency teams responded and crews worked to clear the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
