Teen driver strikes, kills elderly man on NW 1st in Trent

TRENT, TX – A 76-year-old man using a mobility device died Monday in northwest Taylor County when a vehicle struck him, reports KTXS 12.

The accident happened in the evening at the intersection of Northwest 1st Street and North Oak Street in the city of Trent. This is about 24 miles west of Abilene.

Police say that a westbound vehicle struck the man as he was crossing 1st near Oak. The 17-year-old driver indicated to police that she could not see the victim in the dark.

Authorities identified the victim as Larry Dean Morris. Morris died after transport to an area hospital.

The driver involved in the accident did not sustain injuries. It is unclear if they will face charges in connection to the incident.

A full investigation is underway.
