Man killed when tire hits windshield on Loop 250 in Midland

MIDLAND, TX – A 45-year-old man died earlier this month from injuries sustained in a crash caused by a tire malfunction, reports NewsWest 9.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Friday, November 1st, on Loop 250 in Midland. Officials have not provided a cross-street for the accident.

Police say that a westbound 2024 Ford F-350 was hauling a trailer when one of tires on the trailer became detached and struck the windshield of an eastbound 2018 Ford F-250.

The driver of the F-250, identified as Steven Michael Basden, lost control of his vehicle and struck the median barrier. Basden died the next day at an area hospital.
