Wrong-way crash on US-380 near Newcastle kills 1, injures 2

YOUNG CO., TX – A 44-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries last Saturday in a two-vehicle crash along the highway in central Young County, reports Texoma’s Homepage.

The accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. along US-380 west of Newcastle. This is about 100 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

Police say that for unknown reasons, an eastbound Mercedes sedan entered the westbound side of the highway and collided head on with a westbound 2007 Mazda 3.

The driver of the Mazda 3, identified as Jody Lynn Rymel, died at the hospital a day after the crash.

Medics transported a teen passenger from the Mazda to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

The wrong-way driver sustained non-critical injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
