Teen struck, hurt in hit-and-run on N Battlebell in E Highlands
HIGHLANDS, TX – A high school student was hurt Tuesday when a pickup truck struck him along a major roadway on the east side of Highlands.
According to Click 2 Houston, the accident happened in the morning before school on North Battlebell Road near Wade Road. This is southeast of Highlands Reservoir.
Police say the driver of a 2007 Dodge Ram Truck first passed a school bus illegally on Battlebell and then struck a 17-year-old that was crossing the street to catch the bus.
The student sustained leg injuries. It’s unclear if he required hospitalization.
The driver of the Dodge left the scene of the accident but was later apprehended. Police arrested 61-year-old John Wesley Williams on a charge of failing to stop and render aid in an injury accident.
A full investigation is underway.
