Andrew Lusk, 12, struck on scooter in Fort Worth, critically injured
FORT WORTH, TX – A 12-year-old boy sustained serious injuries last Tuesday when a vehicle struck him on his scooter in southwest Fort Worth, reports NBC DFW 5.
The accident happened after school around 4:30 p.m. in the roundabout at McPherson Boulevard and Summer Creek Drive. This is just north of Summer Creek Middle School and east of the Chisholm Trail Parkway.
Police say the boy was crossing the street in the roundabout when the vehicle hit him. They’ve not yet released any details about the driver involved in the wreck, but they’re not calling it a hit-and-run.
Medics transported the victim, identified as 7th grader Andrew Lusk, to an area hospital with critical injuries, including cracked ribs and fractures to the face.
Citing a history of accidents at the same intersection, residents of the area are calling on the city to take measures to improve safety in the roundabout for motorists and pedestrians.
A full investigation in underway.
