Glennewyn Johnson, 34, killed in wrong-way collision near Tulia
SWISHER CO., TX – A 34-year-old woman died last Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi along the interstate in central Swisher County, reports Plainview Herald.
The accident occurred shortly after 1 a.m., just south of Tulia on I-27. This is about 54 miles south of Amarillo.
Police say that a southbound 18-wheeler crashed head-on into a Mercedes sedan after the latter vehicle lost traction while headed south on the icy roadway and spun out. The two vehicles collided in the shoulder of I-27.
An unrestrained passenger in the Mercedes, identified as Glennewyn Johnson, died at the scene of the wreck.
Medics transported the driver of the Mercedes and a second passenger to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
The truck driver did not sustain injuries in the accident.
A full investigation is underway.
