Brandon Macomber, 38, killed in collision on Hwy 176 in Martin County

MARTIN COUNTY, TX – A failure to yield led to a two-vehicle crash last Thursday afternoon, February 13, in Martin County that claimed the life of a 39-year-old passenger, according to News West 9.

The wreck unfolded on a stretch of State Highway 176 at Farm to Market 1212, in Tarzan. It was first reported at about 1:45 p.m.

A news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) indicates a 45-year-old Youngstown, Ohio resident was driving a 2024 Ford F-250 eastbound on Highway 176 when he failed to yield to the right-of-way while making a left turn onto Farm to Market 1212. Moments later, the F-250 collided with a 2020 Toyota Camry being driven westbound on SH-176 by a 28-year-old Stephenville resident.

A passenger in the Camry, identified as 39-year-old Brandon Macomber, of Granbury, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Camry, who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital. Officials say neither the Camry driver nor his passenger was wearing seatbelts at the time.

The driver of the F-250, who sustained minor injuries, was also taken to Midland Memorial Hospital.

An investigation remains underway.
